My own MMO game
I always wanted to create my own game. It was my dream for a long time. Already in elementary school I was thinking of board games, working on C-64 or Amiga.
Then, in the era of PC games, I felt in love with economics and strategy games. I thought it was fun to write my own strategy game. That time, nobody heard about browser games, so I started to write simple desktop game.
The biggest obstacle for me was the graphics. Well – I have no talent in this matter, and the GUI in the games is extremely important. Then I started college, a family and normal life. Gaming was no longer a priority.
After a few years I started playing some MMO games. Browser games have great community around them. As a member of the alliance, the player feels needed and shares responsibility for his fate. How many times I have sent the army to a certain doom for a little payback to enemies for the raid on my mate’s village. It’s very addictive and after some time I have to use all my will to stop living “from farming to fleet-save”.
I started thinking about creating my own browser game. As a professional programmer, I thought that there wouldn’t be a problem. Maybe the coding not, but consistent game design, graphics, community and servers – would be more problematic for me. I had a lot in front of me, but these challenges gave me a lot of positive energy.
I collected the best solutions from every game I was played, and started designing my own. After some time I had a consistent concept. I knew more or less how to earn on games, rules attracting players, and I discovered what they missed in some games. I hope that game written by gamer for gamers gives players more satisfaction, than products of large corporations.
